Introduction

We are the Afroz Zafar Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States. Our mission is to empower impoverished girls, particularly war-affected Afghan refugees and internally displaced girls from Pakistan, by providing them with free training in tailoring and embroidery. Decades of war and instability in the region have left Pakistan with a significant number of Afghan refugees and displaced families from the North. This has resulted in widespread suffering, poverty, and a lack of access to education. Currently, we are operating three skills development schools, and we aim to establish more .

"A Message from the President"

My name is Taufiq Mirza, and the Afroz Zafar Foundation was established in loving memory of my late mother. Empowering girls with essential skills not only boosts their confidence but also strengthens their ability to make informed decisions for their families. Thanks to generous donations, we are currently running three tailoring and embroidery schools. However, we need more supporters to expand our skills development programs and to establish an orphanage for homeless minor girls. Join us in making a lasting difference.

"A Message from the Secretary"

Farzana Mirza is a former lieutenant military nurse who has witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of decades-long war in Afghanistan and northern Pakistan. Innocent civilians have been left without education, employment, or access to skills development. Throughout her service, she volunteered her time to provide free community health education and awareness programs for women and children. Deep in her heart, she always carried the desire to improve the lives of young girls and give them a future filled with hope and opportunity. “If we educate a girl, she will educate her entire family.” This vision was brought to life through the dedication of a few friends from the United States, whose support made this dream a reality. But we cannot do it alone. We need more philanthropic supporters to donate regularly so we can continue this life-changing mission. Let’s support women’s empowerment together.

"OUR STORY & OUR MISSION AS Afroz Zafar Foundation"

A message from the director of the board. My name is Taufiq Mirza and Afroz Zafar Foundation is built in the loving memory of my late mother. Empowering girls with skills is helpful in their confidence building and decision making for their families. Generous donations have allowed us to run three tailoring and embroidery schools. We need more supporters so we can expand skill development programs for the needy girls and as well as to open an orphanage for homeless minor girls.

Noor Jahan Abdullah Tailoring Schools

The Noor Jahan Abdullah Tailoring School is named in honor of the late mother of one of our generous donors. At the Afroz Zafar Foundation, we offer you the opportunity to establish a school or engage in charitable work in memory of your loved ones. Acts of kindness dedicated to a late parent bring profound peace to the soul, and we are here to support you in this noble endeavor—just as we have honored our donor’s mother through this initiative.

Afroz Jahan Homes (Upcoming Project)

Afroz Jahan Homes is our upcoming initiative dedicated to providing a loving, motherly environment for orphaned girls. The project is named after Afroz, the late mother of Taufiq Mirza, and Jahan, the late mother of one of our generous donors. Our goal is to offer these girls the best possible upbringing—ensuring they receive education, life skills, and emotional support—so they can grow into confident, self-sufficient members of society. Join us. Sponsor a child. Sponsor a tailoring school. Be part of the change.

Ma Peace Couture!

Shop Maa Peace Couture! Maa Peace Couture (MPC) is a project of the Afroz Zafar Foundation. • “Maa” is a native word for mother. Just as a mother from our native land would teach her daughters sewing and embroidery, we aim to pass down these skills to them. “Peace” represents our commitment to a world without war. Girls who graduate from our tailoring school receive fair wages for their work. The handmade items they create are labeled Maa Peace Couture—but it’s not just a label; it’s a story of survival. They craft beautiful 18-inch doll clothes and intricately beaded purses, which you can purchase through our Etsy shop or by contacting us directly.
